Why name Triveni Ghat ?


Each morning numerous followers take a bathe in the holy waters of Ganga at Triveni Ghat. Three holiest Hindu rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Sarswati joining together at this place (Ghat ) that’s why it’s name Triveni Ghat. The holy River Ganga takes a full right angle turn from here.

The legendary temple of Nilkanth Mahdeo is located at 5500 feet. According to hindu mythology this was the place where God Shiva had drank poison which had arrive from shaking the sea.

Lord Shiva neck had crooked blue after drinking venom and for this reason Lord Shiva was named 'Neelkanth'. One of The Oldest Temple In India - Bharat Temple

The Bharat Temple is one of the oldest temple which is situated in the holy city Rishikesh built by Adiguru Shankaracharya in 12th century. It is situated in the old town near Triveni Ghat.It is dedicating to Bharat who is the younger brother of Lord Ram. The details about the temple are available in ancient records of Kearkhand. During his invasion in 1398 the original temple is destroyed by Tamur . But till today there are some of the very important things which are well preserved. There is an idol of Lord Vishnu in the inner chamber of the temple which is carved out of a single (the divine stone of Mahavishnu (Saligram). There is also a Shriyantra placed on the shade above that was places here by Adi Shankaracharya. Recent excavations have revealed more about the rich history of the temple.From the premises of the temple Old statues, coins, pots and other things have been discovered .
